According to the literature, there are 18 schemas (life long patterns). There always is an option for 'new' schemas to be discovered but for now, this is what is known. Please read through the schemas that are the most present in your life, according to the Assessment you complete.
As you may have noticed, the schemas are not similar to the modes (or mood states). They can be viewed as lying at the base of the modes. When one or more schemas are triggered they force you into a mode, where you operate accordingly. Unlike modes, where we differentiate between those we want to slowly diminish and the two we want to strengthen, none of these 18 schemas are contributing to a fulfilling life. Even though they are a normal human response, we want to let them fade gradually to the background since their service isn't needed anymore!
